I was in a training class for GT instruction last night; I do not teach GT specific classes but am required by district for training b/c of the few that trickle thru in regular classes. The concept of an open-ended project was discussed as a memory of one of the teachers.  Has anybody assigned such a project?  If so, how did it go? Read more

My school is rampant with student apathy, esp. regarding grades; many are failing at least one core class (over 50%) and they just shrug their shoulders when asked if they are, or asked why they have failed the class. Also, some students feel that they should receive credit just for showing up to class. I'd like to start a discussion on this, and how to overcome this. Read more
