GradeSpeed SIS' Discipline feature gives administrators and teachers the ability to define and record discipline events. These incidents can then be filed and reported for each student.
Administrators can define “Incident Codes” for each event that requires discipline (example: “Fighting”). They can then define “Action Codes” to prescribe disciplinary action taken for the student, as well as “Location Codes” and “Reported By” codes. Users can create codes and descriptions and can associate incidents and disciplinary actions with state-defined codes. Certain codes can be made available to teachers, while others can be reserved for administrative users only.
Teachers can record discipline events using the simple interface. This interface allows teachers to create discipline incident records. The teacher can indicate which students were involved, the location and time of the incident, the nature of the incident, and any action taken by the teacher. Teachers are also able to identify trends in class behavior.
The Discipline Module gives administrators a number of tools that allow them to record and report discipline information accurately and efficiently. Administrators can manage and modify the incident reports created by teachers.
Administrators also manage the way incidents are reported to the state – within the admin interface, there are check boxes (“Appeal Expected,” “Informal Hearing,” “Report to State,” etc.) that allow the administrator to follow the discipline incident from the event through conclusion. Administrators can also create reports based on recorded discipline events. The Discipline Action Report displays a summary of all discipline incidents recorded for a given date range. The Location Summary Report allows administrators to see the physical distribution of discipline incidents. The Action Summary Report allows administrators to monitor the types of disciplinary action that are commonly used at the school.
